Y12 Geography Fieldtrip Day 2

Day 2

The day dawned, well no it didn’t again, still wind, still rain, flood warnings in the local towns and still we enthusiastically approach a day in the hills assessing the rurality of settlements in the Conwy Valley. Geographers don’t get tougher than these. Visits to the rural settlements of Ysbyty Ifan and Penmachno were followed by lunch at Betws y coed and then onto Llanwrust. Rain held off and flooding was averted at Llanwrust although the banks of the Conwy were close to bursting BUT it had stopped raining !

Back to the centre for data handling and presentation, before tea. From the smells coming out of the kitchen it is something to look forward to.
Students developing poster displays from the results of environment quality surveys and assessment of the extent to which settlements figure on the index of rurality. Discussions taking place, debates and arguments but at the end of it students learning. On this occasion noisy is better.
