The Y10s return

The Y10 students have returned back to Essex after their 3 days in Somerset looking at coasts and rivers. Our final day was spent looking at river flood defences around Taunton - not dissimilar to those studied in Yr8 in Chelmsford.

Yr10s looking at how Taunton have installed a weir to control river flow (10C, French Weir)
Students on a bus? No - seeing whether they can feel the vibrations under a big bridge as traffic goes over!

We then had a 6hr journey back to Chelmsford - students returning home for the evening before another 2 days of school (to start on their coursework!).

It's been a thoroughly enjoyable 3 days and the students have worked very hard. Well done to all and thank you to the staff involved - Mrs Revell (trip leader), Dr Hitch, Mrs Donkersloot, Miss Fryer, Mr Russell (an honorary geography teacher for 3 days) and Mrs Mepham (admin before the trip). We're looking forward to seeing some wonderful pieces of coursework later in the year....
