River Rising !

On the third day the rains came. Heavy overnight rain and a severe weather warning for North and Mid Wales, the headwaters of the River Severn, were just what the Doctor had ordered. At last we might be able to see the costly flood defences protecting Shrewsbury town centre from certain devastation in action. Or maybe not ...... we will keep you posted. Today students are assessing the flood risk and potential severity on an urban environment. With all the talk of Global Warming and Climate Change this may become a more regular feature and so students will look at the economic impacts of flooding and strategies being used to manage the risk.
