Week 13 (10/01/19)

This week in site 1- The Maths Garden- we recorded 0ml of precipitation with a wind direction of south and a wind speed of 0m/s. The temperature was 9.2℃ and the pressure, 1026mb.

In site 2- The Field Corner- we recorded 1/3ml of precipitation with a wind direction of east and a wind speed of 0m/s. The temperature was 11℃ and the pressure was 1026mb.

In site 3- The Front of School- we recorded 0ml of precipitation with a wind direction of north and a wind speed of 0m/s. The temperature was 11℃ and the pressure was1025mb.

We recorded the cloud type stratus.

Week 12 (03/01/19)

In site 1- The Maths Garden- we recorded 220ml of precipitation with a wind direction of north-west and a wind speed of 0.4m/s. The temperature was 9.1℃ and the pressure was 1038.7mb.

In site 2- The Field Corner- we recorded 190ml of precipitation with a wind direction of south-west and a wind speed of 0.0m/s. The temperature was 13.4℃ and the pressure was 1038mb.

In site 3- The Front of the School- we recorded no rainfall or wind direction but the wind speed was 0.4m/s. The temperature was 9.7℃ the pressure was 1038.9mb.

The cloud type was cumulus.

Week 11 (13/12/18)

Site 1 - The Maths Garden - had 53mm of precipitation, with a wind direction of North, along with a wind speed of 0.8m/s. Temperature was recorded at 8.2 degrees, with a pressure of 1014.5mb too.

Site 2 - The Field Corner - had no recorded data in terms of precipitation and wind direction and we recorded 8℃. We recorded 1014.4mb and 1.1m/s.

Site 3- The Front of the School- had 40mm of precipitation, with a wind direction of East, along with a wind speed of 0.5m/s. The temperature was 7℃, with a pressure of 1014.6mb.

The cloud type was cumulus.

Weeks 9-10 (6/12/18)

Unfortunately we had not been able to take a look at the rain guages during Week 6, so the data that we collected this week was the amalgamation of two weeks' worth of rainfall.

Site 1 - the Maths Garden - had 94mm of precipitation, with a lack of wind direction, but the speed was 1.6m/s.The temperature was at 16.3 degrees Celcius, and we had an atmospheric pressure of 1009mb.

Site 2 - The Field Corner - had no recordable data in terms of precipitation and wind direction. Temperature and pressure were also not recorded. As a result of this, there was no measurement for wind speed either.

Site 3 - Front of School - had 41mm of rainfall, a wind direction of NNW, along with the wind speed of 1.2m/s.

Weeks 6-8:8th-22nd November

We have had some breaks in between today and the 8th, as Miss Fryer, our supervisor, was away on the 15th, so we ran it ourselves, and last week on the 22nd we had a non pupil day.

Week of the 8th:

Site 1, having previously had large amounts of rainfall only had 30ml this week, lower than site 2 which had 50ml of rainfall. The wind direction this week was west, unlike last week, where it was south. The temperature had risen to 15.56°C, while the pressure had risen to 1017.1 mb.
Site 2 had the msot rainfall, with a recorded 50ml. The wind direction this time had stayed the same, being North East. The temperature reorded was 16.6°C, being the warmest of the week, and the pressure was 1012 mb.
Site 3 received 17ml of rainfall that week, the lowest of all the sites. The wind direction was North and the temperature 15°C. The air pressure was recorded at 1012.1mb

Week of the 15th:

This week our supervisor, Miss Fryer, was away, so whilst we could record the results, we could not upload them.

In site 1 we recorded a huge 190ml of rainfall, which dwarfed all the other values. The temperature was 15.6°C, the wind direction was West, and the air pressure was 1017.1mb.
Site 2 recieved a mere 60ml of rainfall that week, compared to the 190ml of rainfall recieved by site 1. We recorded a temperature of 14.6°C, and an air pressure of 1017.3mb. The wind direction was North East.
Finally, in site 3, we recorded a tiny 35ml of rainfall, the lowest value of any site that week. The wind direction was North, and the temperature was 14.4°C. The air pressure was1017.5mb.

Thursday 1 November 2018

Week 5: 1st November 2018

There was a 2 week gap between these readings and the last, as we could not take readings last week because it was half term.

Over the 2 week period there was not as much rainfall as what would be expected at this time of year.

In site 1 we recorded 70mm of rainfall of the two week period, and a southernly wind. This means that there was an average of 35mm per week, however we do not know how this was distributed. In site 1, we also recorded the air pressure, and achieved a reading of 1000.5mb. We compared this to a synoptic chart on the MWIS site, and found our reading to be accurate. We also recorded the temperature, and found it to be 14.6°C

In site 2 we recorded 80mm of rainfall over the two weeks and a north-easterly wind. This means that there was an average of 40mm of rainfall per week, but again, we do not know how this was distributed.

Finally, in site 3 we recorded 110mm of rainfall, but there was no wind at the time. the average amount of rain per week was 55mm.

We found the sky to be covered by a nimbostratus cloud.

Thursday 18 October 2018

Week 4: 18th October 2018

This week there was a reasonable amount of rainfall. For the first time we recorded wind direction. To do this, we blew bubbles downards, and watched which direction the wind blew them in.

In site 1 we recorded 110mm of rainfall over the last week, exactly twice as much as last week. By experementing in different areas of the small maths garden, we deduced that there was no wind direction, likely because the area is enclosed.

In site 2 we only recorded 5mm of rainfall. However, the rain gauge had been knocked over, most likely by an animal. We recorded an Easterly wind.

Finally, in site 3, we recorded 110mm of rainfall. This cannot be compared to last week's results, as last week the gauge had been knocked over. Here we recorded a southernly wind.

Overall we had around twice as much rainfall as last week, however one of our gauges had been knocked over, affecting our results. Precipitation was equal in both sites 1 and 3.

This week we also recorded the cloud types, recording both Cumulus clouds and Cirrus clouds
